Historical Documents

The Rome Radio Club has been an active part of the amateur radio community in Central New York since 1934. Over the course of more than nine decades, the club and its members have appeared in newspaper articles, amateur radio publications, event announcements, club correspondence, meeting records, and other historical documents.

This archive is dedicated to preserving and sharing those materials.

The documents found here provide a glimpse into the history of amateur radio in the Rome area, including club activities, public service efforts, Field Day operations, repeater projects, licensing programs, social events, and the individuals who helped build and sustain the Rome Radio Club through the years.

Documents in this archive may include:

  • Ham Family Day materials
  • Meeting notices and records
  • Repeater and technical project documentation
  • Club publications and newsletters
  • Historical photographs and captions

Many of these documents have been collected from public archives, donated by current and former members, or digitized from original paper copies. Some materials may reflect the language, practices, and technologies of their time and are presented for historical and educational purposes.

As additional materials are discovered, they will be added to this archive to help preserve the history of the Rome Radio Club and amateur radio in Central New York.

We are actively seeking historical documents, newsletters, photographs, QSL cards, event programs, meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, and other memorabilia related to the club and its members.

If you have items that may be of historical interest, please contact the club. Even a single photograph or newspaper clipping can help preserve an important piece of our history for future generations.

Newsletters

The Rome Radio Club published newsletters for many years. These newsletters provide a fascinating snapshot of amateur radio activities, club meetings, repeater projects, Field Day operations, and local events.
